Animal adoption information
To be eligible to adopt an animal you must be over twenty one years of age and produce two utility bills as proof of identity.
You must also agree to the following conditions:-
    You MUST
  1. Not part with possession of the animal except to return it to A.I.D. If for any reason you are unable to keep it you must first
    telephone 0161 775 2221
  2. Feed and house the animal to A.I.D.'s satisfaction.
  3. Provide qualified veterinary treatment in case of injury or illness, which can be expensive.
  4. Ensure that your name and address is permanently engraved on the animals collar or on a disc attached thereto before leaving the sanctuary.
  5. Notify the police and A.I.D. WITHIN 24 HOURS should the animal become lost or missing.
  6. Permit an authorised member of A.I.D. to visit your premises from time to time to be assured that the animal is happily settled.
  7. Allow A.I.D. to repossess the animal if, in their opinion, the terms of the agreement are not being reasonably adhered to.
  8. Ensure that the animal does not leave your premises unless accompanied by a responsible person.
  9. If the animal is a dog, provide regular exercise and not chain the dog, except when absolutely necessary, when a running chain shall be used.

It is also required that dogs should be innoculated against Parvo and Distemper and that cats be innoculated against Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu and tested and innoculated for Feline Leukaemia.
Full information of innoculations, regarding costs etc can be obtained from your local Veterinary Surgery or Animals in Distress.

  2. Puppy - £65
  3. Cat  - £40
  4. Kitten - £40
  5. Rabbit - £10
  6. Ferret - £10
  7. Chinchilla - £10
  8. Guinea Pig - £5
  9. Small Birds - £5
  10. Rodents - £3
Above costs include neutering and micro chipping for dogs and puppies and neutering for all other mammals.

Complimentary six weeks Pet Insurance cover provided with every dog, puppy, cat, kitten and rabbit re-homed.

Please do not adopt unless you are prepared to take a little trouble and give the animal a fair chance.

When you have decided to give an animal a home please pay a visit to where you can purchase all you need for your new family member. All purchases will earn Animals in Distress a small commission.
